The New York Rangers President and General Manager recently announced that forward Chris Mueller was recalled from the Hartford Wolf Pack of the AHL. The Rangers also assigned JT Miller and Jesper Fast to Hartford.

Forward Chris Mueller was recalled from the Hartford Wolf Pack, and JT Miller and Jesper Fast were both assigned to Hartford.
Chris Mueller had a good game in Hartford’s season opener on October 12 against the Syracuse Crunch. Mueller scored a goal on two shots, and had a plus-one rating.
Mueller also posted solid stats for the Rangers in the preseason. In four games, Mueller tallied three points, which came on a goal and two assists, had a plus-one rating, and recorded five shots on goal.
Fast and Miller both struggled in the games that they played in the regular season. Fast recorded three shots on goal and posted a minus-one rating. Miller registered seven shots on goal with a minus-four rating. He also had three blocked shots as well as four hits, but did not produce like he was expected to in a bigger role.
Mueller, 28, is primarily a right wing, and will likely serve as a backup to some of New York’s other wingers. Mueller will see some ice time, but it’s not clear as of now where Vigneault will use him.

CORRECTION: Jesper Fast did play in the game tonight after Mats Zuccarello was scratched. Zuccarello skated in warmups but was scratched right before. Fast was likely inserted after that decision was made.
In yesterday’s post, I made note of an incident in the first period where Zuccarello appeared to injure his shoulder. He finished the game, but was scratched today with a sore shoulder. He is currently listed as day to day.
Recently, the Rangers’ announced that Kevin Hayes will start in place of Jesper Fast in the Rangers’ home opener against the Maple Leafs.
It is unknown the reason for Fast being removed, but Hayes will likely take his spot at right wing on the fourth line.

Kevin Hayes will make his Rangers’ debut in the home opener tonight. He will likely play on the fourth line, and wear number 53.
Hayes, 22, is a product of Boston College, known for their tremendous hockey program, where he finished his senior season as a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award for the top college player, after putting up 65 points in 40 games.
Hayes is listed at 6-foot-4 and 216 pounds, and was a sophomore on the 2012 Boston College national championship team with fellow Ranger Chris Kreider.
These are the anticipated lineups for tonight:
Kreider-St. Louis-Nash
Hagelin-Brassard-Zuccarello
Duclair-Miller-Stempniak
Glass-Dominic Moore-Hayes
McDonagh-Girardi
Staal-Klein
John Moore-Hunwick
Lundqvist
UPDATE: Glass to play against Columbus 10-11-14
After missing practice on Friday for a maintenance day with a tight back, Tanner Glass will play tonight in Columbus.
Glass’ toughness and penalty killing ability will certainly help against an aggressive Blue Jackets team in a game that is likely to be an intense game as the former Jackets’ captain, Rick Nash, goes back to his former arena for the second time.
Vigneault said that if Glass is available to play, the lineups would likely to be the same. So expect this lineup for tonight’s game.
Kreider-St. Louis-Nash
Hagelin-Brassard-Zuccarello
Duclair-Miller-Stempniak
Glass-Dominic Moore-Fast
McDonagh-Girardi
Staal-Klein
John Moore-Hunwick
Talbot
Tonight’s game marks Matt Hunwick’s Ranger debut as he replaces the injured Dan Boyle in the lineup.
Kevin Klein will now be paired with Staal and Hunwick will play with John Moore.
The Rangers were 2-1-1 against Columbus, with both wins coming on the road. Tonight marks the first of four meetings between the two teams.
Last season’s matchup against Columbus on March 21st, 2014 was one that saw an all out brawl as well as Nash drop the gloves against Matt Calvert in a 3-1 Rangers victory.
