Rangers prevail over Calgary despite absence of Rick Nash; Talbot earns the shutout

The Rangers (37-16-6) put forth a very strong effort against the Calgary Flames (32-24-4), battling for a 1-0 shutout and extending their point streak to eight games (7-0-1), keeping them in second place in the Metropolitan Division, and just two points behind the Islanders. The Rangers are 8-1-2 since Lundqvist has been out.
Earlier this afternoon, the Rangers announced that they were dealing with some flu like symptoms, but it came as a surprise when it was announced that Rick Nash would be a scratch due to neck spasms. He is currently listed as day-to-day. Read the rest of this entry

After a shootout victory on Sunday, the Rangers (36-16-6) are set to take on the Calgary Flames (33-24-4) at Madison Square Garden for the second and final matchup between these two teams this season.
The Rangers took down the Flames in Calgary back on December 16th, jumping out to a 4-0 second period lead before finishing with a 5-2 victory at the Saddledome. Rick Nash had two goals in the game, and Chris Kreider scored one of the more important ones, finding the back of the net with 7.8 second remaining in the first period, giving the Rangers a 2-0 lead going into the first intermission. The Rangers (15-10-4) handed the Calgary Flames (17-14-2) their sixth consecutive loss, and wound up extending their win streak to four games, sweeping the Western Canada road trip.
The Rangers were led by the offensive outburst of Rick Nash, who scored two goals in the game to extend his point streak to 11 games. Nash’s goals gave him a total of 20 for the season, which made it 11 straight seasons for Nash with at least 20 goals, which is the NHL’s longest active streak. Read the rest of this entry

The Rangers (14-10-4) will look to extend their win streak to four games when they take on the recently struggling Calgary Flames (17-13-2), who have dropped their last five games.
The Rangers have not won more than three in a row this season, and they have only won that many consecutive games twice this season. Extending the streak to four games would help the Rangers start to establish the consistency that they are searching for. Read the rest of this entry

The Rangers (14-10-4) won their second game in as many days, shutting out the struggling Edmonton Oilers (7-19-5) by a final score of 2-0.
The Rangers got some surprising news this afternoon, when it was discovered that Derick Brassard, second on the team in points, had contracted the mumps, now the 12th case in the NHL this season. With Brassard out, Vigneault had to make some changes in the lineup. Tanner Glass was reinserted into the lineup on the fourth line, and JT Miller was shifted to center, with Chris Kreider playing on the second line again. Read the rest of this entry
