Why Kevin Klein is a huge part of the Rangers; Ryan McDonagh update

With McDonagh injured, Kevin Klein has been one of the most under appreciated players on this Rangers team. Klein has stepped up as a top-four defenseman and has found a bit of a scoring touch.
On November 1st in a game against the Winnipeg Jets, Captain Ryan McDonagh suffered a separated shoulder when Evander Kane hit him into the boards. With Boyle already out at the time, the Rangers needed help on the back end.
Although all of the Rangers defensemen stepped up at points, but Kevin Klein has been one of the biggest surprises for the Rangers this season.
Throughout his career, Kevin Klein has been known as a defensive specialist, a minute eater, and a potential top-four defenseman. He’s reliable and does not make many mistakes on the ice. Read the rest of this entry
Rangers earn second consecutive shutout victory; St. Louis picks up two points

For the second game in a row, the Ranger (9-7-4) shutout their opponent, this time against the best team in the NHL, the Montreal Canadiens (16-6-1).
New York vastly outplayed their opponents, controlling play for almost the entire game. They outshot Montreal 34-21, had 15 takeaways, and lit up Dustin Tokarski for five goals, all while shutting down the Habs with tremendous defensive play.
Martin St. Louis was the offensive catalyst for the Rangers, assisting on Derek Stepan’s goal in the second period, and then scoring himself later on. St. Louis’ two points puts him at 998 for his career. Read the rest of this entry

After Friday’s game against the Sabres was postponed, the Rangers (8-7-4) were able to get a long rest as they prepared to face off against the best team in the Eastern Conference; the Montreal Canadiens (16-5-1).
The last time that the Rangers met the Canadiens at Madison Square Garden, the Rangers went on to win Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals and advance to play for the Stanley Cup. Read the rest of this entry
Practice Notes: Lundqvist to start against Canadiens

The last time that the Rangers played the Canadiens at Madison Square Garden, the Rangers won Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals and advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time in 20 years.
The Rangers will play their first game in four days on Sunday when they face off against the Montreal Canadiens for the second time this season. This time, the two teams will play in New York.
The last time the Rangers played Montreal, it was at the Bell Centre, with the Habs coming away with a 3-1 victory. Carl Hagelin scored the lone goal for New York, assisted by Anthony Duclair and Dan Girardi. Carey Price led the Canadiens to victory, stopping 34 shots in the process.
Despite Talbots fantastic performance against the Flyers, where he earned his first victory of the season in a 2-0 shutout win, Vigneault has decided to start Lundqvist on Sunday.

“That was a little better, eh?!”
That was head coach Alain Vigneault after the Rangers (8-7-4) responded to Monday’s loss in a big way, shutting out the Flyers (7-8-2) at Madison Square Garden and ending their three game skid.
The Rangers controlled play for most of the game, and outshot the Flyers throughout the second period, until the Flyers pulled their goalie with 3:33 left to play and upped their shot total. Read the rest of this entry
