Brassard expected to play in Carolina; Talbot signs contract extension

After missing the past two games with the mumps, Derick Brassard rejoined the Rangers for Friday’s practice. Following the morning skate, Rangers head couch Alain Vigneault announced that he expects him to play Saturday’s game in Carolina.
Brassard, who centered Rick Nash and Mats Zuccarello during practice, said that he would wait until the morning before he decided if he was ready to go against the Hurricanes, after having some difficulties building up his strength and conditioning once again. Read the rest of this entry

After missing the last two games with a case of the mumps, Alain Vigneault informed media that he expects Derick Brassard to skate with the team tomorrow afternoon.
Like Tanner Glass during his stint with the illness, Brassard has been isolated from his teammates after he showed symptoms of the mumps. This will be the first time that Brassard has contact with his teammates since the victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday. Read the rest of this entry
Rangers extinguish the Flames; Nash hits the 20 goal mark

The Rangers (15-10-4) handed the Calgary Flames (17-14-2) their sixth consecutive loss, and wound up extending their win streak to four games, sweeping the Western Canada road trip.
The Rangers were led by the offensive outburst of Rick Nash, who scored two goals in the game to extend his point streak to 11 games. Nash’s goals gave him a total of 20 for the season, which made it 11 straight seasons for Nash with at least 20 goals, which is the NHL’s longest active streak. Read the rest of this entry
Rangers look to extend win streak against the struggling Calgary Flames

The Rangers (14-10-4) will look to extend their win streak to four games when they take on the recently struggling Calgary Flames (17-13-2), who have dropped their last five games.
The Rangers have not won more than three in a row this season, and they have only won that many consecutive games twice this season. Extending the streak to four games would help the Rangers start to establish the consistency that they are searching for. Read the rest of this entry

The Rangers (14-10-4) won their second game in as many days, shutting out the struggling Edmonton Oilers (7-19-5) by a final score of 2-0.
The Rangers got some surprising news this afternoon, when it was discovered that Derick Brassard, second on the team in points, had contracted the mumps, now the 12th case in the NHL this season. With Brassard out, Vigneault had to make some changes in the lineup. Tanner Glass was reinserted into the lineup on the fourth line, and JT Miller was shifted to center, with Chris Kreider playing on the second line again. Read the rest of this entry
