Rangers cruise to victory over Vancouver with quick start; Zuccarello scores two

Despite having a five day gap in between games, the Rangers (13-10-4) had a very complete effort in a win over the struggling Vancouver Canucks (18-10-2) on the road.

The Rangers dominated the game from the start, scoring three goals on their first four shots of the game. The Rangers first two goals came within 43 seconds of each other.

Ryan McDonagh looked like the player he was last year out on the ice. McDonagh scored the Rangers first goal, which was also his fourth of the season. He also had a plus-four rating and blocked three shots. Read the rest of this entry

The Rangers (12-10-4) lost another lead late in the game, but managed to find a way to beat the Penguins (18-6-3) thanks to a goal in overtime from Kevin Klein.

The Rangers surrendered the first goal of the game, but scored three straight after that before surrendering two late in the third. The last two goals were due to defensive miscues and mistakes. This season, when the Rangers have made mistakes, it winds up in their own net, and that’s what happened tonight. Read the rest of this entry

Rangers lose a two goal lead to Detroit; Nash scores 17th of the season

For the eighth time this season, the New York Rangers (11-10-4) gave up a lead, allowing the Detroit Red Wings (16-6-5) to score three straight goals, dropping their second consecutive game.

Rick Nash scored his 17th goal of the season, bringing his point streak to seven games. Nash now has 27 points (17-10-27) in the team’s first 25 games.

Cam Talbot allowed 3 goals on 34 shots, with the first two coming just 1:01 apart. Talbot had his shutout streak snapped at over 159 minutes. Talbot’s record fell to 2-3-1 with the loss. Read the rest of this entry

Rangers lose third straight to Lightning; Power play continues to score

For the third time in two weeks, the Rangers (11-9-4) fell to the red-hot Tampa Bay Lightning (17-6-2), this time by a score of 6-3.

The Rangers were in the game for the first two periods, and playing pretty well, until two goals in 1:24 in the third period derailed New York. Tampa would seal the win with an empty netter late in the period.

Henrik Lundqvist really struggled tonight, giving up 5 goals on the first 17 shots he faced. He would finish with 15 saves and a .750 save percentage. Read the rest of this entry

Rangers sweep home-and-home against Flyers; Fast scores first NHL goal

The New York Rangers (11-8-4) were able to win their second game in two games, with both wins coming against the struggling Philadelphia Flyers (8-12-3).

Chris Kreider was out of the lineup due to a death in the family. Dan Boyle was scratched with flu-like symptoms, and was replaced by John Moore. Tanner Glass is still out of the lineup, and was diagnosed with the mumps. Read the rest of this entry
