How to deal with the Rangers’ inconsistencies; Player Updates

The one thing that is always mentioned during the Rangers’ press conferences and interviews is consistency; their lack of it, how to build it, and how to sustain it.

Consistency has been a season-long issue for the Rangers, starting with the injuries that plagued them during the early part of the season. This led to Vigneault having to move some players around, like playing Martin St. Louis at center, despite playing the right wing for the entirety of his career. Read the rest of this entry

Rangers lose third straight to Lightning; Power play continues to score

For the third time in two weeks, the Rangers (11-9-4) fell to the red-hot Tampa Bay Lightning (17-6-2), this time by a score of 6-3.

The Rangers were in the game for the first two periods, and playing pretty well, until two goals in 1:24 in the third period derailed New York. Tampa would seal the win with an empty netter late in the period.

Henrik Lundqvist really struggled tonight, giving up 5 goals on the first 17 shots he faced. He would finish with 15 saves and a .750 save percentage. Read the rest of this entry

Rangers ready to take on Tampa Bay again; Kreider returns to the lineup

After sweeping the Flyers in a home-and home series, the Rangers (11-8-4) will face the Tampa Bay Lightning (16-6-2) for the final time this season, with tonight’s match being played at Madison Square Garden.

The Rangers are coming off of a 5-2 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday, where Jesper Fast scored his first NHL goal and JT Miller providing some offense as a replacement for the grieving Chris Kreider. Read the rest of this entry

Rangers sweep home-and-home against Flyers; Fast scores first NHL goal

The New York Rangers (11-8-4) were able to win their second game in two games, with both wins coming against the struggling Philadelphia Flyers (8-12-3).

Chris Kreider was out of the lineup due to a death in the family. Dan Boyle was scratched with flu-like symptoms, and was replaced by John Moore. Tanner Glass is still out of the lineup, and was diagnosed with the mumps. Read the rest of this entry

Talbot shuts out Flyers again; Martin St. Louis earns his 1000th point

The Rangers (10-8-4) managed to shut out the Flyers (8-11-3) for the second time this season in the return of Rangers Captain Ryan McDonagh.

Cam Talbot, who was in net the last time the Rangers beat the Flyers, managed to shut them out again, bringing his shutout streak over 120:00 minutes. Talbot managed to stop all 26 shots he faced.

Martin St. Louis was the biggest story line in today’s game, as his goal and assist brought him to 1,000 points in his career. His second period goal was the one that helped him reach the milestone, and gave the Rangers a two goal lead. Read the rest of this entry
