Rangers face off against St. Louis at MSG; McIlrath and Allen make season debut

When the Rangers (5-4-1) take the ice tonight at 7 PM against the St. Louis Blues (6-3-1), four of the defenseman in the starting lineup for New York will be guys that did not play when these two teams first faced off in the season opener.
Recent callups Connor Allen and Dylan McIlrath will both be in the starting lineup tonight, following the injuries to Ryan McDonagh and Kevil Klein.
Connor Allen will be making his season debut tonight against the Blues tonight, and could either play with Mike Kostka or Dylan McIlrath. Allen is a capable two-way defender who can move the puck and play solid defense.
The two are not linemates in Hartford, but were teammates last season and roommates for training camp this year.
Allen nearly made the team out of camp last season, and played in three games for the Rangers, where he looked comfortable and moved well with the puck. In eight games in Hartford, he has scored twice and picked up three assists with a minus-one rating. Read the rest of this entry
Rangers fall to Winnipeg in shootout, lose McDonagh and Klein to Injury

The Rangers faced off against the Jets in a very exciting game, but came away with a 1-0 shootout loss, and a bad taste in their mouth following the loss of captain Ryan McDonagh and Kevin Klein to injuries.
Both Ondrej Pavelec and Henrik Lundqvist recored shutouts, with 65 minutes of shutout hockey. Both made some great saves, but it was Pavelec who had the heavier workload, stopping all 38 shots he faced.
Rangers aim for fourth consecutive home win; Hayes back in lineup

The Rangers will be looking to win their fourth consecutive home game, and start off this four game homestand with a 2-0 record.
After playing just nine games in October, and only 3 games in the past 12 days, the Rangers embark on a jam-packed November tonight against the Winnipeg Jets.
New York will play the first of 15 games over the next 29 days, with 10 of those games being played on home ice.
The Rangers (5-4-0) are coming off of a sensational comeback victory over the Wild, where they scored 5 goals in the third period en route to their fourth win in 5 games. New York has not played since that game, which was on Monday. Read the rest of this entry

After looking dead for the first two periods of the game, and dealing with two ejections, the Rangers managed to stay strong and scored 5 goals in the third period, leading them to a crazy 5-4 victory over the Minnesota Wild.
This was the first time the Rangers have scored 5 goals in a period since 2011 against the Canadiens, and it’s only the first time they have come back from a 3-0 deficit in the third since 1992 against the Minnesota North Stars.
Coming into tonight, the Wild had only given up 6 goals in 6 games. The Rangers practically managed to double that in one period, with the 5 goals coming from 5 different Rangers. Kevin Klein, Rick Nash, Derick Brassard, Anthony Duclair, and Mats Zuccarello all scored for New York.
Rangers look to rebound against the Wild; AV considers center shuffle again

The Rangers return home to begin a 4 game home stand starting with tonight’s game against the Minnesota Wild.
After a loss in which New York was overwhelmed by Montreal, Vigneault and the Rangers (4-4-0) will change things up in order to create more offense tonight against the Wild (4-2-0) in the first game of a four game home stand. Vigneault also may shift the wing positions for tonight’s home-ice match as well.
After struggling in Montreal, especially in the faceoff circle, rookie Kevin Hayes may wind up being a healthy scratch for tonight. Hayes was demoted to the fourth line towards the end of the game after beginning the night with Chris Kreider and Rick Nash. Read the rest of this entry
