Rangers start west coast trip against the Ducks; Lundqvist in net

The Rangers (21-11-4) start their three game road trip against one of the best teams in the NHL; the Anaheim Ducks (26-9-6), who will pose one of the toughest matchups this season.
The Ducks are currently in one of their “rough” stretches, and even that isn’t all that bad. Anaheim has won in regulation just once in their last seven games, but still managing a 4-2-1 record. This is largely due to the play of their captain and top center, Ryan Getzlaf, who was named the league’s top star of the month in December, tallying 20 points (5-15-20) in the month, as well as points in 12 of 14 games. Rangers ready for their toughest test of the season

The Rangers (21-11-4) are playing their best hockey of the season, winning 10 of their last 11 games, outscoring opponents 40-17 in that span, and getting contributions from all over the ice. While they have faced some tough competition, the next seven games will really show how good this Rangers team can be.
Over the next 11 days, the Rangers will play seven games against very high quality opponents, starting with a road trip in California, where they will face the Anaheim Ducks, the Los Angeles Kings, and the San Jose Sharks. All three teams are in a playoff position, and have winning records. The Ducks have the most points in the NHL, and are one of the best teams in the league. Read the rest of this entry

The Rangers have been one of the league’s hottest teams over the last month, winning 10 of their last 11 games, vastly outscoring their opponents in that streak (40-17), and playing fantastic defensively, with some help from Henrik Lundqvist and Cam Talbot in net.
It’s easy to pick out players like Rick Nash and Martin St. Louis, who lead the Rangers in points, or to say that the strong defense from players like Ryan McDonagh and Marc Staal have been the reason for the Rangers success. Read the rest of this entry
Rangers rout the Sabres with three power play goals in the first period

The Rangers (21-11-4) dominated the Buffalo Sabres (14-23-3) at home on Saturday, cruising to a 6victory. The Sabres played exactly like a team that had played the night before, which they did, and the Rangers were able to take advantage of this, giving them 10 wins in their last 11 games played.
For the second straight game, no player had more than one goal, with six different Rangers finding the back of the net for New York. Thirteen different Rangers recorded at least one point in Saturday’s contest. Read the rest of this entry
Rangers look to keep winning ways against the Sabres at home

The Rangers (20-11-4) have won nine of their last 10 games, and are hoping to continue to pick up another win against the struggling Buffalo Sabres (14-22-3) at Madison Square Garden.
The Sabres will be playing their second game in as many days, and were shut out by the Florida Panthers 2-0 on Friday night. The Sabres are now 1-6-1 in their last eight games.
While this is largely a rebuild year for the Sabres, they had been playing solid hockey for a while before hitting their recent eight game skid. Buffalo has also had some standout young players. Read the rest of this entry
