Lundqvist magnificent as Rangers blank Predators in the Big Apple
Bobby Bevilacqua
There is nothing more confusing and puzzling in the NHL right now than the Rangers winning formula.
Despite getting outshot 25-7 after 40 minutes, and outshot 31-19 for the whole game, the New York Rangers (16-3-2) managed to survive a barrage of Nashville Predators (11-6-3) shots on net, starting a new win streak of two games.
Chants of “Hen-rik!” “Hen-rik!” were heard throughout the Garden, as the NHL leader in win improved his record to 12-3-2 with his second shutout of the season, a fantastic 31 save performance on home ice. He was the only reason his team was ahead after the second period despite taking five penalties. New York was vastly outplayed for large portions of this game, but Lundqvist gave them the win. Rick Nash hat trick lifts Rangers to overtime win in Florida

Sam Rosen said it best- “The Rangers just don’t like to lose.” After an emotionally exhausting night, losing to Tampa Bay 2-1, the Blueshirts got right back on track, defeating the Florida Panthers 5-4 in overtime to finish the brief two-game road trip.
The line of Stalberg-Hayes-Lindberg received some constructive criticism from Alain Vigneault, and they looked much better once AV put Miller on that line in place of Hayes. The line recorded one goal- Stalberg’s second of the season- on the night.
The Rangers received the first power play opportunity of the game, recording quite a few shots on goal, despite the slow start. McDonagh’s shot was his team’s best opportunity, but it hit Luongo in the head. He recovered fast, though, and play continued. Read the rest of this entry
Zuccarello’s heroics hand the Rangers their ninth consecutive victory
Bobby Bevilacqua
Don’t look now, but the Rangers are the best team in the NHL.
After Montreal’s quick start to the season and Dallas’ offensive explosion, it is the New York Rangers (14-2-2) that sit atop the league standings through 18 games after taking down the Toronto Maple Leafs (5-9-4) by a score of 4-3 at Madison Square Garden.
The Rangers extended their win streak to nine games, the third longest streak in franchise history and the longest since a 10 game win streak since the 1972-73 season. They also have recorded a point in 13 consecutive games (11-0-2), with 11 wins in their last 12 games (11-0-1).
The Rangers have also set a new franchise record for wins (14) and points (30) through the first 18 games of the season. Their record on home ice improves to 9-0-1, with an eight game win streak at the Garden. Over that span, they’ve outscored opponents 33-11 and have a 16.2 shooting percentage. Rangers battle through tough Ottawa team for eighth straight win
Alexandra Russo
After a brief moment of silence for the recent tragedy in France, the Rangers (13-2-2) and Senators (8-5-4) were set to go for the first of three matchups this season. The Rangers went 2-1-0 against Ottawa last season, winning once at home and once on the road. In Saturday’s afternoon game, the Rangers proceeded to extend their winning streak to 8 straight with a 2-1 shootout win.
Zuccarello leads the charge as Rangers top the Blues in nine goal thriller
Bobby Bevilacqua
In a game that was supposed to be a low scoring, defensive affair, the Rangers (12-2-2) and the Blues (11-4-1) combined for nine goals, as New York skated away with their seventh consecutive victory and remaining the hottest team in the NHL.
On top of the win streak, the Rangers also extended their point streak to 11 games (9-0-2), and they have not lost in regulation since October 15th in Montreal. The 12 wins are a franchise best through the first 16 games of a season, while their 26 points to start the season tied a franchise record from 1970-71.
Affectionately dubbed “The Stat,” with the Rangers win, they’ve improved their record to 160-1-9 in the last 170 games when leading after two periods. Read the rest of this entry
