Rangers offense awakens in win over Hurricanes; Lundqvist Spectacular

The Rangers (28-15-4) managed to avoid their first three-game losing since November, overcoming sloppy play early to snatch a win over the Carolina Hurricanes (17-26-6) by a score of 4-1 at Madison Square Garden.
The Rangers overcame an injury scare early in the second, when Henrik Lundqvist took a puck to the throat, and remained writhing in pain on the ice for minutes. After a few minutes of silence, with some “HEN-RIK” chants from the Blueshirt faithful, Lundqvist stood up, put the mask on and remained in the game, a testament to his competitiveness and toughness. Rangers fall short in battle against Montreal

The Rangers (27-15-4) lost their second consecutive game, getting shut out by the Montreal Canadiens (31-13-3) by a final score of 1-0. In a game showcased by goaltending and defense, it was a single shot from Max Pacorietty that beat a screened Henrik Lundqvist late in the third period.
It was the third time that New York has been shut out in the last six games, and they have scored two or more goals just twice in that same span. Carey Price was very strong in net for the Canadiens, making a few clutch saves en route to his third shutout of the season. Price stopped all 24 shots he faced, with his best save coming late in the third period on Martin St. Louis as he tried to tip in a puck out of midair. Read the rest of this entry
Rangers drop third straight to the Islanders; Hagelin with lone Ranger goal

The week off for the Rangers seemed to have a lingering effect, as the Rangers (27-14-4) seemed distracted and off their games at times, falling to the Metropolitan Division leading New York Islanders (32-14-1) by a score of 4-1, and ending their three game win streak.
It was the first game at Nassau Coliseum for the two teams, but the result did not change. The Rangers have been outscored by the Islanders 13-4 in the three games, and now trail them by seven points with two games in hand. Rangers extend winning streak to three over Ottawa; Hagelin wins it in overtime

The Rangers (27-13-4) found a way to come back and win in overtime, defeating the Ottawa Senators (18-19-8) by a final score of 3-2 thanks to a game winning goal from Carl Hagelin. The Rangers head into the All Star break with a three game win streak, and wins in 16 of their last 19 games.
With the Penguins and Capitals losing in overtime, the Rangers are now in second place in the Metropolitan Division, tied with the Penguins in points, but with games in hand. Read the rest of this entry
Rangers dominate in Pittsburgh; Stepan and Nash with two goals

The Rangers (26-13-4) finished off their road trip strong, with a dominating 5-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins (26-12-4) at the CONSOL Energy Arena. The Rangers scored 26 seconds into the game, and never gave up the lead.
The two points puts the Rangers in a tie for third place with the Washington Capitals for third place in the Metropolitan division with two games in hand. It also puts them just two games behind the Penguins, who have won just four games in their last 12. Read the rest of this entry
