This afternoon, Ryan Kennedy announced that the Rangers had signed veteran winger Daniel Paille to a contract. It was later reported by Sean Hartnett that the deal was a one year, two way deal valued at $575,000 in the NHL and $110,000 in the AHL.
Paille has been in the AHL this season with the Rockford Ice Hogs after spending the last six seasons with the Boston Bruins. He was drafted 20th overall by the Buffalo Sabres, and has appeared in 570 NHL games, scoring 85 goals and 172 points in that span. Last season he had six goals and seven assists in 71 games.
He also won the Stanley Cup with the Bruins back in 2011, scoring three goals with three assists and only four penalty minutes as the Bruins defeated the Vancouver Canucks. Read the rest of this entry

TSN’s Bob McKenzie tweeted out that a deal between the Rangers and the Vancouver Canucks is getting done. The Canucks will get Etem and the Rangers will get a draft pick as well as winger Nicklas Jensen. The draft pick is a 2016 6th round pick.

Etem, 23, has played in 19 games with the Rangers, recording three assists, a minus four rating and 23 shots on goal. Blueshirts’ GM Jeff Gorton first contacted Lightning GM Steve Yzerman when the Rangers were in Tampa Bay for last Wednesday’s 5-2 Rangers win. That conversation came before the trade request went public. Read the rest of this entry
Rangers Rumor Mill: Gorton is “looking to shake things up”
Bobby Bevilacqua
Craig Custance, an NHL reporter for ESPN, spoke to some of the general managers around the league, and it appears that Rangers GM Jeff Gorton has been making some calls. Because the general consensus around the league is that Gorton “is looking to do something to shake things up” after a lackluster start to the season.
The Rangers have won just four of their last 15 games, seeing their big lead in the Metropolitan Division fall apart. The defensive structure has collapsed and become disorganized, there has been inconsistent production from the top six.
As a result, it seems like Gorton wants to make a few tweaks, and he’s looking at the trade market to help make some adjustments. Read the rest of this entry

UPDATE: AV said that Girardi has swelling in his knee and will not play tomorrow. A defenseman will be recalled. It would be Diaz but he is injured so expect Skjei.
John Shannon of Sportsnet reported on Twitter today that the New York Rangers have placed center Jarret Stoll on waivers. If he clears, he will report to Hartford.

Jarret Stoll was a healthy scratch in Calgary on Saturday, with Tanner Glass playing a prominent role on the fourth line since he was recalled. Stoll had appeared in 29 games this season, recording one goal and an assist. Stoll had not been all that effective this season on the fourth line. Read the rest of this entry
