The Rangers (28-15-4) managed to avoid their first three-game losing since November, overcoming sloppy play early to snatch a win over the Carolina Hurricanes (17-26-6) by a score of 4-1 at Madison Square Garden.
The Rangers overcame an injury scare early in the second, when Henrik Lundqvist took a puck to the throat, and remained writhing in pain on the ice for minutes. After a few minutes of silence, with some “HEN-RIK” chants from the Blueshirt faithful, Lundqvist stood up, put the mask on and remained in the game, a testament to his competitiveness and toughness. Lundqvist was clearly the star in the game, stopping 31 shots, including all 15 he faced in the first period. Read the rest of this entry

With two straight losses since the All Star Break, the Rangers (27-15-4) will continue their homestand against the last-place Carolina Hurricanes (17-25-6), a team that has been playing much better as of late, with a 7-2-1 record in the team’s last 10 games.
It will be the fourth matchup between the teams this season, and the Rangers will look to remain perfect against Carolina this season after winning the first three games. The Rangers picked up their first home win of the season against Carolina on October 16th, edging the Canes 2-1 in a shootout. New York then swept both games of a home-and-home, winning 3-2 in a shootout in Raleigh before picking up a 1-0 shutout victory at Madison Square Garden. Read the rest of this entry

The Rangers (27-15-4) lost their second consecutive game, getting shut out by the Montreal Canadiens (31-13-3) by a final score of 1-0. In a game showcased by goaltending and defense, it was a single shot from Max Pacorietty that beat a screened Henrik Lundqvist late in the third period.
It was the third time that New York has been shut out in the last six games, and they have scored two or more goals just twice in that same span. Carey Price was very strong in net for the Canadiens, making a few clutch saves en route to his third shutout of the season. Price stopped all 24 shots he faced, with his best save coming late in the third period on Martin St. Louis as he tried to tip in a puck out of midair. Read the rest of this entry

Tonight brings another tough test for the New York Rangers (27-14-4), as they take on another Eastern Conference rival in the Montreal Canadiens (30-13-3) at the Garden.
Following a 4-1 loss at the hands of the Islanders, the Rangers will contend with another speedy and skilled team that happens to be one of the top teams in the East. The Rangers have played the Canadiens twice this season, splitting the games with the home team winning both. The Canadiens won the first game at the Bell Centre 3 to 1, with Carl Hagelin scoring the only Ranger goal, and Carey Price making 34 saves. The Rangers countered with a 5-0 win at Madison Square Garden, with Henrik Lundqvist stopping 21 shots for the shutout. Five different Rangers skaters had goals, with Hagelin also scoring in that game, and Martin St. Louis picking up a goal and an assist. Read the rest of this entry

Following a tough loss to the Islanders on Tuesday, Alain Vigneault decided to juggle the lines at today’s practice ahead of the Rangers (27-14-4) battle at home against the Montreal Canadiens.
Kevin Hayes’ struggles continue as he continues to develop into an NHL center, and the third line did not get many quality chances last night. Carl Hagelin did score the lone Ranger goal, but it came on the power play when Dominic Moore was the centering. Read the rest of this entry
