Rangers look to make it three straight against the Senators; McDonagh steadily improving

After winning consecutive game for the first time since November 21-23, the Rangers (26-16-5) will look to continue their win streak in the last game of their road trip against the Ottawa Senators (22-20-6).
This is the last of the three game season series and New York is looking to close out the sweep in today’s matinee. Back on November 14th, the Rangers skated away with a 2-1 shootout win as Dan Boyle scored the deciding goal in the shootout. Chris Kreider scored the only goal for New York. On December 6th, Lundqvist’s 23 saves helped guide the Rangers to a 4-1 victory at Madison Square Garden. Derick Brassard scored twice, and Ryan McDonagh had a goal and two assists. Rangers begin three game road trip in Vancouver; McDonagh slowly improving

Following a big rebound win over the Ottawa Senators, the Rangers (18-7-3) head out on a three game road trip to Western Canada, starting their trip against the Vancouver Canucks (10-11-8), a team that has struggled to win games lately.
New York have played a lot of their games at home to begin the season, but will play five of the next six games on the road, with five of those games coming against Canadian teams. Last season, the team’s trip through Western Canada kick started their season, sweeping Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary, outscoring the teams 12-3 along the way.
Since Alain Vigneault joined the Rangers as head coach, the team has been very good away from home. The Blueshirts are 17-1-1 during road trips of three games or longer since the start of last season, and they’re 15-2-0 against Western Conference teams since last season. Read the rest of this entry
Rangers win convincingly over Ottawa Senators; Brassard nets two

A win like this was desperately needed, and the Rangers did not disappoint.
Right before heading out on a three game road trip, the Rangers (18-7-3) got a bit of a confidence boost when they defeated the Ottawa Senators (14-8-5) by a final score of 4-1, playing one of their strongest games of the season.
The Rangers defensive effort was very strong, limiting Ottawa to just 24 shots on goal, and just three in the third period. They managed to throw 31 shots on goal themselves, and controlled the flow of the game from the get-go. Read the rest of this entry
Rangers must get back to winning against Senators at the Garden

The Rangers are slumping, badly, and a breakout performance is desperately needed before they head out on a three game road trip.
The Rangers (17-7-3) will take on the Ottawa Senators (14-7-5) for the second of three games this season. New York took the first game in a shootout, 2-1, back on November 14th, with Chris Kreider scoring the lone Rangers goal. The Blueshirts enter having won five of their last seven games against Ottawa.
After a nine game win streak early in the season, the Rangers have not been nearly as effective, posting a 3-5-1 record in their last nine games, as well as a 1-4-1 mark in their last six. The defense hasn’t been strong, the goal scoring department is starting to dry up, and their analytic numbers are beginning to regress towards normal. Read the rest of this entry
Rangers battle through tough Ottawa team for eighth straight win

After a brief moment of silence for the recent tragedy in France, the Rangers (13-2-2) and Senators (8-5-4) were set to go for the first of three matchups this season. The Rangers went 2-1-0 against Ottawa last season, winning once at home and once on the road. In Saturday’s afternoon game, the Rangers proceeded to extend their winning streak to 8 straight with a 2-1 shootout win.
