When the Rangers (7-6-4) take the ice against the Tampa Bay Lightning (12-4-2), it will mark the first time that ex-captain Ryan Callahan, Brian Boyle and Anton Stralman face the Rangers since joining the Lightning.

Ryan Callahan was traded to the Lightning for Martin St. Louis at the trade deadline after Callahan and the Rangers could not agree on a contract extension. St. Louis became a ranger and was an integral part in propelling the team to the Stanley Cup Finals. Read the rest of this entry

For the second consecutive game, the Rangers (7-6-4) fell in the shootout in Pittsburgh, after it appeared that Dan Boyle won the game for the Rangers. Upon further review, Boyle’s shootout goal was overturned, and the Penguins (12-3-1) walked away with their 12th win of the season.

It is yet another disappointing loss for the Rangers, who played hard but lost their sixth game in their last eight contests (2-2-4), as well as their fourth consecutive loss when the game goes to the shootout.

rangers beat penguins game 7 2014

The last time that the Rangers played in Pittsburgh, they walked away with a Game 7 victory, overcoming a 3-1 series defecit. Tonight’s atmosphere should be very exciting.

For the second time in three games, The Rangers (7-6-3) will take on the Pittsburgh Penguins (11-3-1) tonight at the Consol Energy Arena in a divisional matchup.

The last time these two teams played, the Rangers won 5-0, controlling play and getting stellar goaltending from Henrik Lundqvist, who made 33 saves.

Mats Zuccarello was the first to score, with St. Louis, Klein, Brassard and Nash scoring after. New York also managed to score on the power play against one of the top penalty kills in the league, as well as scoring shorthanded. Read the rest of this entry

After a huge, emotional win over the Penguins on Tuesday, the Rangers (7-6-3) dropped the shootout to the Avalanche (5-8-3), in what would ultimately be a disappointing 4-3 loss for the Rangers.

The Rangers played pretty well overall, but ultimately gave up a lead in the third period, and Alex Tanguay would seal the deal for the Avalanche with a great move in the shootout.

One of the standouts for New York tonight was Kevin Hayes, who scored the first goal for the Rangers and made it three games straight with a point (1-2-3). Kevin Hayes was the most noticeable skater for the Rangers early when they were getting shut down but Colorado, and was the one to score the first goal. Read the rest of this entry

When the Rangers (7-6-2) take on the Colorado Avalanche (4-8-5) tonight, the Rangers will be playing with five of their top six defensemen for the first time since October 27th, thanks to the return of Dan Boyle.

Boyle fractured his hand while blocking a shot in the season opener against the Blues, and will be playing for the first time in 14 games. It will also be the first game that Dan Boyle will play at Madison Square Garden as a Ranger. Read the rest of this entry
