Practice Report: Stempniak back in, Talbot to start in Philly

After the loss in Tampa Bay yesterday, the Rangers (9-8-4) will make a few lineup changes as they prepare to face off against the Philadelphia Flyers (8-10-3) in the Wells Fargo Center.
Because the Rangers are playing two games in two straight days, Cam Talbot will get the nod for tomorrow’s game. The last game that Talbot played was against the Flyers on November 19th, where he earned his first victory with a 2-0 shutout win. Read the rest of this entry
Rangers struck down by Lightning; Dan Boyle scores first goal as a Ranger

Martin St. Louis and the Rangers fell short in Marty’s first game back in Tampa Bay, falling by a final score of 4-3.
After two consecutive performances, the Rangers (9-8-4) gave up four goals in a loss to the Lightning (15-6-2) by a final score of 4-3. It was a tough game for New York, as they had trouble getting the puck out of their own zone and sustaining offensive pressure.
Ryan Callahan picked up two goals in the game, giving him 10 on the year, and Steven Stamkos had three points to lead the Lightning to a win. Read the rest of this entry
Rangers look to extend win streak to 3; St. Louis ready to face former team

After two straight shutout victories, the Rangers (9-7-4) will rematch against the Tampa Bay Lightning (14-6-2) in Florida for the first time this season.
For Martin St. Louis, it will certainly be an emotional night. After spending 14 seasons with the Lightning, St. Louis will make his first return to Tampa Bay since joining the Rangers.
“I am expecting the worst, but hoping for the best,” said St. Louis when asked about how he thinks the Lightning fans will respond. “Obviously it’s weird to go past the (Lightning) dressing room and not make a left turn in it, but I’ve moved on and I think tomorrow is going to be special for me tomorrow to play here.” Read the rest of this entry
Rangers earn second consecutive shutout victory; St. Louis picks up two points

For the second game in a row, the Ranger (9-7-4) shutout their opponent, this time against the best team in the NHL, the Montreal Canadiens (16-6-1).
New York vastly outplayed their opponents, controlling play for almost the entire game. They outshot Montreal 34-21, had 15 takeaways, and lit up Dustin Tokarski for five goals, all while shutting down the Habs with tremendous defensive play.
Martin St. Louis was the offensive catalyst for the Rangers, assisting on Derek Stepan’s goal in the second period, and then scoring himself later on. St. Louis’ two points puts him at 998 for his career. Read the rest of this entry

After Friday’s game against the Sabres was postponed, the Rangers (8-7-4) were able to get a long rest as they prepared to face off against the best team in the Eastern Conference; the Montreal Canadiens (16-5-1).
The last time that the Rangers met the Canadiens at Madison Square Garden, the Rangers went on to win Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals and advance to play for the Stanley Cup. Read the rest of this entry
