Rangers take on Boston to start back-to-back series; Raanta in net

Following a sweep of a three game homestand, the Rangers (8-3-0) hit the road for one game to take on the Boston Bruins (6-4-0) at the TD Garden, beginning a back-to-back series for New York.
The Bruins were struggling a bit to begin the season but just finished a three game road trip, winning all three games, allowing a total of four goals in those games. Rask returned from injury and started all three games, while the Bruins received scoring from all over their lineup. They play three of their next four games at home.
The Rangers have been fantastic lately, winning their last three games and six of their last seven. The Rangers just swept a three game homestand, outscoring opponents 16-4, and got scoring from throughout their lineup as well. Rangers aim for third straight win against Bruins; Kreider maybe more than day-to-day

After a two day break following two weekend wins, the Rangers (4-2-0) will aim to extend their win streak to three games when they take on the Boston Bruins (3-3-0) tonight at Madison Square Garden.
The Rangers are dealing with a few early injury bugs, forcing them to insert Oscar Lindberg into the lineup ahead of time and place Pavel Buchnevich on IR. Alain Vigneault said that leading scorer Chris Kreider was having “a tough time moving” and that his neck spasms might keep him out longer than day-to-day. Buchnevich is on IR for the time being but has been practicing in a non-contact jersey, so he may be ready for Friday.
The Bruins had a few of their own injuries, having to make two call-ups in net for their game last night against the Wild. Malcolm Subban and Zane McIntyre both played in Boston’s 5-0 loss. Tuukka Rask may have tweaked his hamstring and Anton Khudobin is out for about three weeks so it’ll probably be those two again tonight. Read the rest of this entry
Lundqvist fantastic as Rangers win big game over the Bruins

In a battle of two teams desperate to strengthen their playoff positions, the Rangers (42-24-8) came away with a 5-2 win over the Boston Bruins (39-27-8), handing them their fourth straight loss.
Apart from a dreadful third period, where the Rangers parked the bus again, it was a pretty good performance from the Rangers. I thought their defensive play was tight and organized, their first period was fantastic, and they scored quickly and early.
But I will forever be concerned about the way that Alain Vigneault handles the team in late game situations. Henrik Lundqvist faced 41 shots while the Rangers had just 24. As a team, the Rangers were a -37 in possession. It’s typically not a winning formula in the playoffs, but when Lundqvist is in net anything is possible. However, that’s a risky strategy. Rangers take on the Bruins at MSG; Nash recovering following “maintenance day”

It’s an Original Six matchup at Madison Square Garden tonight as the Rangers (41-24-8) battle the Boston Bruins, with both teams looking to strengthen their positioning in the standings as the playoffs draw closer.
Both teams have had some rough stretches lately, making today’ game important as both teams are looking to get back on track. The Rangers are just 4-4-2 in their last 10 games following Monday’s win, but they’ve managed to hold onto second place in the Metropolitan Division; two points ahead of the Penguins and five points ahead of the Islanders.
The Bruins were just swept on their three game road trip, losing to the Sharks, Ducks and Kings and getting outscored 9-3 in those games. Boston is also in a pretty good position in their division, sitting in third place but just three points behind the Panthers and the Lightning. Read the rest of this entry
Rangers rally late for win over the Bruins; Girardi suffers lacerated hand

The Rangers (23-14-4) like to make things exciting, and they were able to turn a thrilling third period into a 2-1 win over the rival Boston Bruins (21-15-4) at Madison Square Garden, getting back in the win column before heading on the road for three games.
After a heartbreaking loss with a late goal against the Capitals, it was the Rangers breaking hearts tonight, as Jesper Fast scored the game winning goal with under two minutes remaining. After some shaky and rather bland play in the first two periods, the Rangers rebounded nicely and secured a big two points.
The Rangers may have struggled a lot on the road, but they’ve been great on home ice so far. Vigneault’s squad leads the Eastern Conference with 34 home points, and they’ve posted a 16-5-2 record at the Garden. Read the rest of this entry
