Rangers finish off back-to-back against the Stars; Talbot likely to start

After dropping a game against a strong Nashville team, the Rangers (30-16-4) will take on the Dallas Stars (23-21-8) at Madison Square Garden, the second matchup between these two teams this season.

The Rangers eight game win streak was snapped in Dallas on December 29th, with the Stars coming away with a 3-2 victory. Kevin Hayes and JT Miller scored the Rangers goals, and Henrik Lundqvist stopped 23 of the 26 shots he faced in a loss. The Rangers (19-11-4) could not extend their win streak any further, falling to a tough Dallas Stars (16-14-5) on the road by a final score of 3-2, their first loss since December 6th against the Red Wings.

The first period had a total of four goals, with two for each team, and it appeared as if the game was headed for a high-scoring shootout. But a goal just 54 seconds into the second period sealed the win for the Stars, who have now won six of their last seven games. Read the rest of this entry

Rangers look to keep winning ways against the Stars; Potential lineup changes

The Rangers (19-10-4) are currently in the midst of their longest win streak in 40 years. One win would tie the longest win streak in franchise history, but they will have to go through the Dallas Stars (15-14-5), who have won five of their last six games.

The Stars are coming off of a 4-3 win against the St. Louis Blues, continuing their success in recent games. The Stars are still eight points back in the standings, but are hoping to climb into a wild card spot. Read the rest of this entry

Rangers roll over Devils for 8th straight; Stepan picks up a hat trick

The Rangers (19-10-4) started off the second season on the right foot, defeating the Devils (12-18-7) in front of 18,006 Garden faithful by a final score of 3-1.

Derek Stepan scored all three of the Rangers goals, bringing his point total to 22 (6-16-22) in just 21 games this season. It is also the first time that the Rangers have had hat tricks in back-to-back games since Mike Gartner and Adam Graves did it in the 1994 season. Read the rest of this entry
